It has similar parameters to a land zone as follows: The boundaries of the zone must be clearly identifiable; It may be defined by picket boats, buoys, booms, signs and similar objects; People in the area must be advised that a zone is in existence and that unauthorised access is an offence; A Port Operator must monitor access; A Port Operator must ensure that measures and procedures are in place to control access to the zone. Cleared Zones: A cleared zone is an area within a land-side restricted zone where all people and goods must be screened and cleared in a manner similar to the airports prior to boarding a ship and according to the regulations. They only occur when passenger vessels are berthed at a facility. maritime archive archiving Thailand, maritime archive archiving The Netherlands, maritime archive archiving United Kingdom Mainland, maritime archive archiving USA There must be procedures in place for screening and clearing passengers and their luggage; There must be procedures in place for the detection of weapons and prohibited items; There must be procedures in place for the surrender of any weapons and prohibited items detected; The name of the person or position responsible for these procedures must be listed. Ship Side Zone: When a ship deemed at a higher risk, or with a higher security cargo is at berth. A Ship Side Security Zone may be declared by the Port Authority. This means that the normal 30 metre zone around the ship may be extended in distance and becomes an absolute exclusion zone to all but authorised persons or vessels. In essence it is similar to the cleared zone within a restricted land area. Access to Security Zones. Only authorised persons or visitors are allowed to enter or remain in any maritime security zone, however, the regulations specifically state that the following classes of people cannot have entry to a zone denied.
